Week 5

This video is my first attempt to put together a final video, I have increased the saturation and contrast and made the sound of the squeaking balloons more prominent. I have also added a posterised effect, however, I think I overdid this a little bit as you cant tell they are balloons anymore. I need to redo the word boisterous on the wall because it is a bit hard to see and the colours aren't in the right order. This is a second trial video for my final. The posterise effect looks better on this one but I still need to replace the boisterous word. Final video: Mocked up in situ: I would like this video to be projected onto a plain hallway so that people have to walk past it and feels as though they are walking through the balloons too. Rationale: The poem that I connected to the most was “the visit” by Jenny Bornholdt. The line I related to was “be boisterous”. I feel uncomfortable and intimated by boisterous people because this is...

Week 4

This week I did some experiments with the type to see how I could incorporate this with the balloons. This one is using the handwritten type in the middle of the maze of balloons to show that there is no escape from the boisterousness and you cannot see the end cause the balloons look like they're endless. This trial was spelling out the word boisterous with the balloons however because its pinned down it was hard to get the same effect as pushing through the balloons. I think this looks the best cause its suspenseful and then at the end you get to see what the result is.  This was testing what it would look like with the word boisterous made out of the popped balloons. For this video I tried going through the balloon maze and popping them as I went. But this was a little difficult as the balloons were quite difficult to pop and had to do each one individually. However I like the effect of having the popped balloon on the ground forming the words. Th...

Week 3

After receiving some feedback from my previous trials I have decided to move forward with the long balloon idea. I am going to try them out in a public hallway. the word Boisterous is going to be handwritten in small lower case letters to contrast with the boisterous balloons and representing trying to be something you're not. This trial was me walking through the balloons. I am wearing all black to contrast with the colourful balloons. The tension of trying to get through the balloons represents the feeling of being intimidated by boisterous people. These trials were from my perspective navigating through the balloons. I think this is really effective because the close up is quite disorientating and confusing for the viewer. this represents the feelings of trying to be boisterous when I'm not and how this is uncomfortable for me. I originally took these videos portrait so they came out sideways but I think this actually looks really int...

Week 2

I have done some more research into the word boisterous. The synonyms for boisterous are: -           Unruly -           Noisy -           Mischievous -           Loud -           Bouncy -           Unrestrained -           Wild -           Rowdy        These words gave me the idea of using balloons as my subject matter because they are all of those things. To me boisterous people make me feel intimidated. It is something I want to be but I'm not.        I then tried doing some videos and stills myself. at the moment I am unsure how to incorporate the word boisterous into...
